Long guided tour
Feb. 2020
It is not possible to visit the site unaccompanied. It is compulsory to go on a guided tour. This took nearly two hours and needs quite a lot of stamina.

Very well maintained and explained

Very interesting place. To start with, I had no idea of the Inca presence in Argentina. You have to do the tour with a guide, you are not allowed to wander around. This is mainly to keep the place clean and in good shape, and out of respect. The guide was very knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. Loved it.

Great introduction to a (pre)Inca village
Feb. 2016 • Family
The Shinkal ruins gives you an excellent introduction to pre-Inca and Inca cities. In many ways, the great overview you get here, and the dramatic setting of the place, makes it easier to understand and vision what the entire city once was like than at the much larger and more well-known ruins at Quilmes. The two sites complement one another. And in contrast to Quilmes, the museum is open at Shinkal. This in itself is worth a de-tour!

Nice Inca ruins
Nov. 2015
These inca ruins are not as big or grand as the ones in Quilmes but they are worth a visit. The walk around the park will take about 1 hour and is very pretty and relatively flat easy going. If you want the views which is the best bit then you will have to go up a few Inca steps to see out from both the stairway to heaven (Sun God hill) and the moon hill- both are worth the short climb. I think it cost $60 pesos to get in each. They can be found at the end of a dusty road and are sign posted from the main road.

How to meet the past

located in a small village near London, you'll visit an archeologic place and have an idea about prehispanic cities.

A great surprise
Oct. 2012 • Family
Was very pleasantly surprised by these ruins, especially their scale. A great place to wander around. We had the place pretty much to ourselves, which was great in some respects, but it seems a shame it is less well known and visited than it deserves to be.

Some more interpretive information around the place would be good.
