A must see for western buffs. Must use a little imagination to visualize the wagon trains going across the prairie. The scars of the toils of our forbearers are evident in several places. Wagon ruts visible through the terrain and weeds. Several informational posters give...More

I'm glad we were able to find this stop. The history was great and the short walk up the path was nice. The sad part was that this piece of history was almost totally destroyed by time and weather. The sign itself was lying in...More

This place is several miles outside of town, but it's a pleasnat walk once you find it. We saw a lot of walkingsticks, so if your kids are into bug spotting, this is a great place to stop. Nice views, but the tracks are hard...More

This is basically a historical marker with a concrete pathway that takes you about 100 yards into the prairie. It has a couple of explanatory signs but all there is to see is grass, at least in the summer. Still, we're glad we took the...More

Both the location of the site and the ruts themselves are difficult to find. The signs are laying in the grass, and the grass and weeds are growing up around them, so they didn't fall yesterday but some time ago. Also, the ruts on the...More

Good information about the Santa Fe Trail at the little park. However was slightly disappointed that we didn't see or didn't have something that clearly defined where the trail was at. Great views of the prairie and a good place to watch the sunset.

It was interesting to see, but glad we brought binoculars. It was early afternoon, so perhaps the oblique light of early morning or late afternoon would make them easier to see. However, it was humbling to stand there and try to imagine the hardships those...More

We were here in the 1990s and the ruts were more visible but we were still able to pick them out. Visiting in the winter would probably make them even easier to see. The large sign has blown over and lying on the ground so...More

It was hard to see the actual tracks from the viewing platform. I had seen a drone video online that made me want to stop. The drone video really shows the tracks. However, you can't accurately imagine how it must have felt to be on...More

Great little road side stop to see the wagon tracks across the prairie. The park is well done and the wildflowers were just beautiful in bloom. Great walking path to the various viewing points.
