My family and myself went here in early December 2016 for the Christmas at the Fort event and we were really impressed. The place was dark with lanterns all along the sidewalks that really made my 4 yr old happy. I recommend this place to...More

Great spot with officers quarters, a guardhouse, a blockhouse, and lots of interpretive signs. Really enjoyed our time there, and the history specialist had lots of stories and information.

Fort Hays State Historic Site is a great stop for families. You get to see how the soldiers and their families lived while working on the plains. You feel surrounded by the history and the unique characters that served on the high plains.

My husband and I took the tour, and we will be coming back with the kids. It's a lot of walking, but there are benches here and there which help. I liked the videos and audio clips. It was pretty neat seeing how people lived...More
