Bartlesville, OK has it's bison, Kansas City has it's cows, and KS has the Wild Dala Horse Herd. There are many of them in the main part of town and easily found, and others scattered throughout town.

These Dala Horses really make the walk around more interesting. They are like the Bulldogs in Athens, GA or Jayhawks in Lawrence, KS. Each of them has a theme and many are associated with something near them. They really bring another element of fun to this Swedish paradise on the prairie.

Most popular are the red-orange horses from the little village of Nusnäs near Mora. The Dala Horse was selected by the city of Lindsborg as its symbol of identity with Swedish customs. However, while it is cute to have... More

The wild Dala horse herd is one of the 100s of fun Swedish pieces of Lindsborg. Each horse standing about five feet tall, there are probably 50 of them scattered around town. Local artists have painted them so that each is unique. Lindsborg has done an outstanding job of capitalizing on its Scandinavian heritage. The town is immaculately clean, and... More

Lindsborg is the cutest town! The horses add so much charm and character. My kids loved finding the horses and reading their names. This makes the perfect, inexpensive day: walking around looking at the Dala horses, eating some delicious pastries, and enjoying a friendly, beautiful town.
