We have been through this house a few times. It was recently moved to Metcalf where the bowling alley was at 84th or 85th street on the west side of the road. Hopefully more people will take the time to see the mid-century innovations.

This is awesome if you have any historical frame of reference and maybe even neater if you are under the legal age. In my mid 40's I grew up in a world just past when this decor was all the rage, and my grandparents house shared a lot of similarities. This is really an awesome look at the newest most... More

This house is relocating in 2016 so we made sure to visit before it closed down in preparation for the move. The house is amazing and it was truly a step back in time. Because we visited in December, the home was decked out in Christmas decor from yesteryear. Such a neat place to visit and we will go again... More

Fun to walk through this model home from 1954. Many items brought back memories and it was interesting how this particular house was ahead of its time.

Don't miss this gem if you are in the Kansas City area. We drove from KC, Missouri over the state line into Kansas along the Shawnee Mission Parkway and found this rehabilitated 1950s all-electric house in the grounds of the Johnson County Museum. Thanks to Michele, Curator of Educational Exhibits who gave us a tour and a wealth of useful... More

The 50's house has been moved to the backyard of the Jackson County Museum, and you start the tour by watching a quick video on the house. Most of the tour is verbatim what you watch in the video, so I would say that the tour is more of just a viewing experience. The innovation of the 50's is awesome... More

The 1950's house is well preserved. It's had four previous owners and excellently restored close to the original design. Interesting tour and informative tour guide.

I was born in the late 1950's and have a limited personal memory of what life was like then. For those of my generation and those born later, this amazing house goes a long way towards showing what life was like in the United States during the 1950's. The spirit of everything can be accomplished and life is going to... More
