We arrived at our location and were immediately greeted by our tour guide, Juan Carlos. He was so friendly and welcoming! The drive to the nature preserve was beautiful with lush tropical forest and the sounds of waterfall stream. We arrived at the walking trails and our guide encouraged us to listen for the voices in the forest. He was right. We may not have seen all the wonderful creatures in the forest, but we definitely heard their sounds. As we made our way on the trail, we saw leaf cutter ants, butterflies, birds and, to our amazement, two granular poison dart frogs. Then we made it to the Ebano waterfall and took a swim. So refreshing! Next we drove to a point on the mountain with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and Playa Dominicalito. Finally, while we swam in the pool of a waterfall, Juan Carlos prepared a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch. Thank you, Juan Carlos, for an amazing experience!

My wife and I had the pleasure of touring this beautiful mountainous property and were guided by the family who maintain the property. I originally had some hesitation booking the waterfall tour during the dry season (one of the driest in 20 yrs) but the waterfalls and the pools had plenty of water to swim and were amazing.
In addition to the private tour of the waterfalls, exploring the rain forest and enjoying the views, we learned a lot about the history of the land and Costa Rica, and enjoyed a delicious authentic picnic lunch with the family at the end. The area is incredibly quiet and away from the crowds of the national parks and tourist areas, and we really felt we had the whole place to ourselves.
The family is also creating some new hiking trails to be able to explore more that the property has to offer, and we can't wait to return.
Be sure to hug to family's magnificent special tree for good luck before you leave!

We thoroughly enjoyed our morning at Hacienda Ebano. It was a wonderful way to combine a beautiful nature walk, stunning ocean views – and a bit of waterfall swimming. Juan Carlos was a knowledgeable and welcome guide from the time that he welcomed us to when he dropped us off at the end of our tour.
On the walk to the Ebano Falls, we had the opportunity to see the forest, and Juan Carlos was great at talking us through the ecosystem and how it worked. He pointed out the various sounds and bird types, and thoroughly answered our questions. I am sure we would not have seen some of the birds or the poison dart frogs without his assistance. The walk was followed by the trip up to the top of the hill with a truly magnificent view of the ocean. Initially, we thought we would have liked to hike the trails. However, we were quite happy to have the ride, especially given the heat and the grade of the hill. To top it off, we had the trip down to Jade Falls for lunch and a refreshing swim.
In a small group and in the quiet, we really had a sense of the environment that we could have easily missed by sticking to main road and the more crowded attractions. Well worth it.

Thank you Gitte H for your nice review about your adventure at Hacienda Ebano. As you described, the waterfalls are stunning, are not big waterfalls, but anyway are very enjoyable and safer. There are deep and not deep lagoons, perfect for cliff divers or little kids. Thank you also for the lunch appreciation, the Costa Rican Typical Lunch wrapped in banana leaves, made with local fresh ingredients 😋🍲🍃🇨🇷

Beautiful scenery, especially at the waterfalls where we could swim and enjoy the fresh water. The guides were really nice and the lunch at the waterfall was delicious. Can definitely recommend!

Thank you very much for your recommendation, and the review of your experience at Hacienda Ebano. As you described, on the Ebano Rainforest and Waterfalls Safari Tour, we can swim in pristine waterfalls, and have lunch just next to the river, among other activities such as hiking, or enjoy the mountains and ocean views. Our team is always in the best mood to guide the clients. ☺️🏞🍲

This zone of Costa Rica is one of its best by far. Everything in the South is green, amazing and charming. Hacienda Ebano and the waterfall tour will be the best trip if you're around Dominical Beach or Pérez Zeledón. It's an hour away from Quepos and maybe 1 and 1/2 hours from Jacó.
You'll have a great time with César, the tourguide and owner, which will make your day as fun and relaxing as it can get. The food is amazing as well. A typical Costarican menu picnic in the forest... and I rest my case.
The best of this is that you can make it relaxing, or adventurous. You can go on a long hike or just have a walk for meditation through the trees and trails.
What else to do in the surroundings? Reptile parks, beautiful beaches, pretty hotels, lots of local and international food restaurants. It has all. You love driving? Well, then you'll have a great time going through all the sea and mountain views. You don't want to drive?... take a plane to Uvita and book the transportation. There's no excuse to avoid this place.
I have to be honest... I love southern Costa Rica. That said, you can be sure I will always recommend what's best over there. ;)
