Wow was that fun-an experience worth traveling for. Beautiful canyon with waterfalls. Clear introduction and climbing on your own at your own pace. I had the route to myself. You need some upper body and hand strength as the routes advance-so it is challenging at times. I have hiked Angels Landing and Picacho and enjoyed this as much if not more. By the time I got to the last one my forearms were burning-pace yourself-highly highly recommended

I had a terrific experience with Southeast. Myself and my son (12) did a full day of climbing for our first time climbing on real rock. Our guide, Diego, was excellent. He was super knowledgeable and a great instructor and guide. He also was terrific gently and patiently instructing my son. The facility at Southeast is a beautiful place to kick off the day, with a nice outdoor area where we ate lunch. The routes near Southeast are super convenient. I can't say enough positive things!

This was a super amazing, super fun activity with a great guide (Dave). We did a 1/2 day guided climbing tour and truly enjoyed every minute of it. We had 4 in our group (41, 39, 12, almost 9), and although we are a pretty fit family…this is something that would be a great experience for anyone as they adjust it based off your abilities. We were able to do 3 different climbs (but several of these climbs had 2 options, so it was more like 5 climbs) - there were other options but it was pouring and our guide thought it was best to not try them due to safety concerns. Dave talked us through everything, but also allowed us to figure out moves on our own. Great activity - I highly recommend it!!

I had an extra day after a week of work in Lexington. I was hoping to learn to climb but they were booked. Nichole recommend the Via Ferrata. I checked out some of the reviews and it seemed ok, so I gave it a try. I must admit, while it was beautiful, I was a bit underwhelmed and thought It would be a breeze (boy was I wrong!) Upon arrival the staff was friendly and detailed the safety and orientation class. The course is self paced and separated into 6 legs. 1-3 being the easiest and then the skill level gradually increasing on legs 4-6. The staff recommended 6-8 hours for novice folks. It provides the opportunity for groups to exit at the end of various legs to come down a rest. I must admit that with the adrenaline of being on the mountain coupled with the upper body strength required, it is a good workout. The great thing is it is set up for all skill levels, but it will get parts of the body working. I was told that most first time visitors will only do 1-3. I breezed through 1-3 but got to leg 4 and had to come down. The transition from 3 to 4 was a challenge with a small backpack and I needed some water. I after a short break, I headed back up to tackle the rest of the course. I was able to do the entire course, but I promise there were times that I wanted to exit. This was a great time and well worth the it. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it was the highlight of my visit to Red River Gorge.

As frightened beginners we could not have asked for more attention and encouragement. Our guide, Maggie, understood our concerns, offered prompts and suggestions Office staff, I can’t remember his name, was terrific in response to email questions before our arrival. Next time I will probably hire the guide to go with me.
