The Pioneer Festival is always fun. There are lots of booths and crafts. Of course lots of food that isn't good for you but that is so good.

If you hvnt been yet, I highly recommend putting this gem on your to do list of places to visit. It really is like stepping back in time. All the employees are very knowledgeable about the history of the fort. My kids had a blast here. Very affordable admission prices for everything you get to do. Admission for adults is... More

This State Park sits in the middle of Harrodsburg, on a corner of a busy street. There is NO parking on the grounds, they have a small parking area across the street, so you have to walk over to the Park. You can drive to the Theatre part, but only to buy tickets. It does have the original log cabin... More

Unfortunately the Fort was closed when we visited, but the grounds were still open for us to explore. The grounds include a nice monument to the settlers who founded the first permanent settlement west of the Alleghenies, and the grounds also include a pioneer cemetery from centuries ago. Oddly enough, one of the sites we discovered: the grave of the... More

We had a great time with our the small kids. The staff was excellent and very entertaining for our children. Many went out of their way to five some way to keep them interested!

A full-scale replica of the fort, built by James Harrod in 1774, is the star of this park. Re-enactors, who are in costume, help visitors understand what life was like in log cabins and blockhouses. The log cabins are furnished with handmade furniture, utensils, tools and implements used by the pioneers. My kids loved the one-room school house in a... More

During our trip to the Beaumont Inn in Harrodsburg, we had an afternoon not planned. Old Fort Harrods is in Harrodsburg which is the oldest city in Kentucky. We visited and found ourselves greeted by friendly well informed people dresses in period costume. The Fort was a great place to visit and would be very kid-friendly. Our ticket not only... More

This is a must if you are interested in the history of the Commonwealth. It is a replica of the first settlement in Kentucky. They have a tour that takes you through what it was like to live back then. The tour guides are very informative. The prices in the gift shop are a little high. The place also has... More
