A riverboat cruise sounded nice while at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill. I was wrong. The boat looked a bit rough, but that was okay. The diesel engine that powers the paddle wheel was loud and gave off fumes that gave me and my wife...More

Stayed several days at Shaker Town went for a ride on the Dixie Bell. We rode on the top deck and it was delightful. The Captain kept up a commentary of things on both sides of the river and injected humor throughout. It was an...More

While spending the day at Shaker Village, my daughter and I realized that if our lunch at The Trustees' Table didn't take too long(separate review), we could make the riverboat ride to end our wonderful day. The staff at The Trustees' Table was happy to...More

It was a very relaxing 1 hour boat ride. Beautiful scenery. Good for all ages. Availability depends on weather so call ahead. Purchase tickets at Shaker Village.

We were staying at Shaker Village for a college friends weekend and we all really enjoyed this trip. We were all on the upper deck and it was a great view and informative tour guide. Very relaxing but take it slow on the drive down...More

Hot was the day but we rode up on top of the boat and got a wonderful view of everything. Pilot was informative and funny. Well worth the $10 dollar ticket. Good for kids and adults. Also sell drinks and some food below deck, where...More

The reason I titled this slightly disappointed are some things that could not be changed in a hurry! The boat could have used a new paint job, the speaker system could be updated, I could not hear the narration due to other people talking loudly...More

Boat in rough shape but ok - most frustrating not being able to hear the audio on lower deck. :(. Pretty river. Wish I knew what they said. No one else could hear well either.

Even in a thunderstorm and pouring rain, this boat cruise did not disappoint. Tickets for the 1-hour cruise are available through Shaker Village. The Kentucky River and its tributary, the cold River Dix, are featured. Our guide was incredibly articulate and informative. Learning about the...More

It costs $10 adults and $5 kids and you have to buy tickets first at the Shakertown entrance before going to the boat. The boat is down a steep road across from the entrance to Shakertown, a little north on 68. From... More
