The only park of its kind in the world, the Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park and equine competition facility dedicated to man's relationship with the horse. Set on more than 1,200 acres in the heart of the Kentucky's famous Bluegrass region, the park is THE place to get close to horses! Featuring dozens of breeds of horse at work and at play, the park showcases the horse in daily equine presentations, horse drawn tours, horseback and pony rides, and an array of horse shows and special events throughout the year.

The park's International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum. Offering both the experienced horseman and novice an opportunity to explore the many facets of humanity's relationship with the horse, the museum is dedicated to all breeds and disciplines of horse and covers some 50-million years of equine history. State-of-the-art technology complements rare artifacts and scholarly research to present a unique, educational, museum experience for all ages.

The American Saddlebred Museum, the Showplace for Saddlebreds, celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The museum features interactive exhibits and a movie.

With the park's own tourist activities and the numerous additional horse shows that take place in the equine competition facilities throughout the year, there can be a fair amount of walking involved, depending on visitor interest level. Comfortable shoes and clothing is recommended, appropriate for Kentucky's seasonal weather. Dogs and other pets are permitted on park grounds, as long as they are on a leash or in an approved carrier, although they may not be permitted in some buildings.

Frankly I don't know anything about horses, but enjoyed about 6 hours here. We picked a picnic that enjoyed in the parking lot between "attractions ". I found this educational and entertaining , and my family felt the same . I learned this is a state run facility, and it was clean and well maintained

Horses Horses Horses and then some! It seems like every aspect of equine is featured here and what an education can be had! The museum is impressive with antiques and memorabilia however it seems a disproportionately large area dedicated to Arabian horses and middle eastern horses and culture. So much to see including barns, shows and animals in the pasture.

Good way to spend the day. We stopped here over spring break and we enjoyed ourselves. The museum of the horse is constantly updated so if you haven't been here in a few years it may be worth checking out again. There are some beautiful animals here, and some are true champions! They have two day admissions now and we... More

This is a very impressive horse park, well maintained and well staffed. Everyone was treated with a pleasant smile and eagerness to make our travel group visit a memorable one. There are shows throughout the day, a horse museum, grounds to walk through, adult and kids horse rides, kids playground, restaurant and gift shop. One of the last things a... More

This is a great place to get a feel of the importance of horses to Kentucky. It is best when there are people doing the horseshoeing or leather work. Trail rides and pony rides are a bit expensive. The free tram around the park is a goo way to get a nice view.

We attended the 3-day Rolex equestrian event and what a class act. Thousands of volunteers make sure that everything is done to the highest standard. The events were great and the facilities first class. There are also dozens and dozens of vendors and food booths, and even a beer garden this year. You should wear comfortable shoes because unless you... More

Definitely a place that all horse lovers should go to. Lots of horses, great shows, beautiful scenery, and very interesting museum. Try to get there in the morning so you can have the opportunity to see all the shows especially the Parade of Breeds Show. Highly recommend!

If you love horses, this is a great place to visit. They are celebrating Man O' War's 100th year in 2017 and have a special area dedicated to him in the museum. Exhibits are interesting even if you don't know much about horses. The parade of breeds was fun and it was nice to be able to talk to the... More

All horse lovers must go to the KHP at least once in their life. The ground literally vibrates with hoof beats from all of the horses that have galloped through those pastures. We've been to WEG (World Equestrian Games) there in 2010. We have competed at the USPC (United States Pony Club) Championships and rode with the best clinicians, former... More
