This was just up the street from our hotel downtown - Embassy Suites. It was nice to have something to do right outside our door. However, some of the bars are really expensive, some were a little slow on service. We hunkered down several times at Locos. The staff was nice, the drinks were more affordable and it was in middle of the strip - so good people walking. The piano bar looked fun, but at $10 a head, seemed to be a little overpriced for a piano bar experience. The sports bar was good to watch a game, but paid $22 for a shot! Tried a couple of restaurants on Thursday afternoon when we got there, just before happy hour, but it took 30 minutes before we even got water and we walked out and ended up at Locos for chips and salsa. Got really busy at night with DJ the Saturday we were there, that was fun and gave some great people watching opportunities. It wasn't our favorite place in Louisville, but worth a walk through and a drink.

We have never been to Louisville but were able to walk down to this covered downtown area with a huge screen TV elevated above the street as well as live music! NCAA football was playing with great quality and a bunch of other TVs in bars around the main area that can easily be watched. This place is really cool to have a drink and watch people AND sports! They also had live music in the middle of the day on a Saturday. Even during “these times” it was a great place to visit/go!

This was very close to our hotel and we walked through this area for three days running. Most of the time the music was ear shattering and not live. Live music would have improved this place by a large measure. The restaurants were virtually all the same bar food and we found better places to eat.

We came down here because we heard it was just the place to be and it’s beautiful. It’s just most things were closed but U get the idea that during normal times this place has some good energy. A few places are still boarded up from the riots in 2020, but hopefully that passes as well. For a downtown of a major city to visit this would fit the bill perfectly

We were here in winter, I can't wait to go back in the summer. I can see how better weather would make it a better experience for sure. Most of the places were closed but a couple were open. The open concept with a cover over the walking area street makes for a fun party atmosphere. They have a stage in the center where they host bands.

This was a nice experience only a block from our hotel; numerous venues for food/drink. Too bad some places were closed - probable Covid related. $10 cover @ the dueling piano bar was a little excessive as well.

Wow, what happened here?? Been here a few times previously (last time was 2019 of course pre-covid) and it was always great, lots of things to do and see even during the daytime. The Hard Rock Cafe is gone, as well as the Jim Beam Stillhouse and a few others that I can't recall. Tried to find a good lunch spot here and there weren't many choices. Ended up doing a Mexican take out. Lots of space for lease too. Sad to see.

Looked nice, stopped at two places es both were good. There were at least 30 homeless people in a 2 block area. Would not have been comfortable had it been later in the day..Better to just avoid it.Noone was pan handling though.

Understandably we expected some of the establishments would be closed due to COVID but when we arrived in town only to see 2-3 open was a HUGE disappointment. They were not even open for carry-out. Just closed doors. Half of the lights in the LIVE were burned out. Things were like a ghost town.

Anything going on the weekend before Christmas. Also what venues are open?

No, everything shuts down on thanksgiving but on Friday the 29 th is light up Louisville. This is a big event. There will be a lot of people in the downtown area for the lighting of the tree. There will be a lot of activities on this evening after thanksgiving. If you are in the area for thanksgiving make sure you have your dinner reservations made in advance.

Derby week there are daily groups on the waterfront downtown at Fest d ville. Admission is procured with a Derby Festival pin which can be purchased at Kroger and some other stores for 7.00. They may be purchased on grounds for 8.00. Also, the Saturday before Derby, Churchill officially begins its meet with night racing and there is usually entertainment which continues for an hour after the racing is over that night. Go to the official Derby Festival events page and you can see all the things there are to do.

Obviously there are a lot of things open on Sunday but if you want to enjoy and have the best time on fourth Street it’s best to go on a Friday or Saturday preferably Saturday

Plan to visit the evening after Christmas (Tuesday), anything to do or check out for non drinkers?
Written November 30, 2017
For non drinkers if you're not entertained by drunk folks this perhaps isnt' the place to visit. Try the musical section of town instead.

How do concerts work? I mean, it's an open area so do I really need tickets?
Written July 12, 2017
You will need tickets if you plan to get on the street after 7pm. You can visit our website to find out more about pricing for each individual event or concert. Thanks!
Written July 12, 2017
During the day, Yes. After about 9 p.m. I would say no.
Written July 7, 2017
Not really. Most the venues are indoors unless it's a service animal. It's rare to see anyone with a pet in downtown Louisville to be honest,
