Owners Neil and Rachel bought a beautiful 30 acre farm near Versailles, Kentucky in Woodford County in 1997 and began planting grapes, berries, apples, and peaches in 1998. They named the farm Wildside Farm because of the wild sunflowers and coneflowers that grew in abundance. In addition, the name fit because the farm was initially certified organic until they learned that a minimum of amount of pesticides was needed to keep the fruits healthy. They still use minimal pesticides. Each year they planted more grapes until today they have 5 acres of grapes, two acres of fruit trees and 1.5 acres of berries.Welcome to Wildside Winery your winery near Lexington Kentucky, the airport, and Keeneland racetrack! They are often made in small quantities and are usually from fresh local fruit. A short list of the interesting wines are our new Bourbon barrel red wine made with Cabernet, peach mead, fresh strawberry, hard cider, and many other delicious wines. Another special wine is our Port wine. It's aged in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels. We spent a Saturday afternoon here tasting wine with 2 other couples. It was very enjoyable. In general Kentucky wines are not considered great but we found 3 reds we liked and purchased a bottle of each. The Owner/Wine Maker was available and chatted with us for awhile. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We had a really... More

While touring the Kentucky Bourbon Trail we decided to take a welcomed break from Bourbon for Wine! On a Friday afternoon, it was just us and another couple. We enjoyed speaking with the server while partaking in a tasting. They offer two ways to do a tasting at Wildside. The first, a light flight, will run you $3.00 and you... More

My husband and I and 2 other couples stopped in over the weekend for a tasting. It was fairly busy in there as they were setting up for a Valentine's dinner event. Even though busy, our server was extremely nice and took her time explaining the flavors, answering any questions we have about the different wines and even recommending a... More

This is a nice little "Mom/ Pops" type of winery. We stopped by after we checked into our inn prior to dinner. Don't expect anything too upscale or educational but it is great for a relaxed experience. This is more of a laid back tasting versus a formal tasting. The prices are very good, there is a wide variety, and... More

I made a wrong turn and while trying to find my way I came across Wildside. I tasted six of their wines and settled on the Bourbon Barrel Cabernet. They make wines from fruit other than grapes. They were all great wines and the host was friendly.

As we approached the Lexington area ahead of schedule we Googled things to do to kill some time. What a wonderful surprise we found at Wildside. The staff was very helpful, the price of a wine flight very reasonable, outside seating was delightful after 4 hours in the car. Best surprise of all was the wine. After an hour of... More

We visited this winery for the first time. It was a bit different from wineries we have been to in the past. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Wines were very good. There was a nice option of adding cheese which we did. Tasting itself was inexpensive and you could choose to purchase extras like glass, cheese etc. Short... More

The decks, patio shelter, lawn, gazebo - everything was beautiful! Our daughter said it was her dream wedding! Thank you for making it easy to help plan this remotely from... More

Stopped in here as we were doing the Bourbon trail as something for my wife since she doesn't like Bourbon. Nice winery and tasting room. Good selection of wines and most were very tasty. I was particularly impressed with the "Black Barrel Reserve". VERY NICE! Staff was very nice and pleasant. Prices were decent as well. As I said, the... More
