Went here because we have family living there. If you go up the path to the tower, you can see that they are rebuilding it and the church beside it is always open. There's also another building next to it, which I was told by my mum that that is where she went to school as well. It looks really cool at night, church is open at night as well! - last time I went was back in 2019 but the review won't let me put that

Whilst the tower is the most striking aspect of this attraction, the Chapel beside it is the true beauty. Framed by a beautiful doorway was the iconostasis resplendent within.

We cycled to Nea Fokaia from Afitos on the country back roads and it is a pretty little place with a small harbour, the Byzantine Tower and a few places to eat and drink. Worth stopping off for a look. It is being renovated but most of the scaffolding that was there in 2019 has now been removed and replaced with steps for when this opens to the public. Fences have been erected and a couple of benches so it was nice to sit and admire the view and watch the boats and just relax (before cycling back up 2 big hills to reach Afitos again!) I'm sure it would have been easier in a car but we got to see the countryside, keep fit and get a suntan all at the same time!

We went to this tower and i must say the view is breathtaking but the tower itself is being renovated so nothing much to see. I think you have to be very familiar with the history of the tower to be able to appreciate it more.

The tower itself was under renovation at
the time of our visit, but the view was really breathtaking.

The tower is not spectacular, but offers a unique view of the sea, and it’s worth taking a walk there, you can take nice pictures, there was a spectacular sunset, there’s also a nice restaurant close if you want to have dinner enjoying both delicious meals and beautiful views.

My wife and myself are currently staying at the Sani Dunes (Review to follow) and have just returned from a 2 hour tour of the local area.

This included the Village of Nea Fokea which has a larger Byzantine Watchtower which - although inaccessible to the public - is larger and far more intact than the one on the Sani Resort. It is well worth a short visit as the site offers great fees not only of the town and the small harbour but of the surrounding area.

There is also an attractive old Church ‘The Holy Water Spring of Apostle Paul’ on the same site which is well worth visiting. Fortunately, for us it was - being over Easter - open at the time of our visit which made it even more worthwhile.

Had hired a scooter for a few days and called into Nea Fokea to see Byzantine tower which has a dominant position on the hill overlooking the bay. You cannot get into the tower and disappointingly no history to read on it. The views around are lovely though. Best to goggle it’s history before visiting.

A bland square tower which is surrounded by rubble and litter. No access to view as it is closed.. on the upside there is a good view of the bay.
The swimming is good. But the sunbed were worn out. And the sellers charged 6 Euros for 2 small cola
The small church of apostle Paul was worth a look and the village square is verry nice.
