This state park is poorly maintained. If you follow my ratings, I rate often and rarely rate less than three stars. At 4 o'clock on the day of our arrival we notified the office of how bad the bathrooms were. The manager assured us that...More

As far as parks go, this is one of the nicest I've visited. We rented a cabin, it was not real big, but there was enough room for 4 to sleep comfortably. The kids got to fish for the first time and actually caught some....More

This park has such amazing beauty. The park is along the Cacasieu river and has a large cypress tree swamp with walk out bridge. You will see birds, tame deer and a possible alligator. Whether you are here for a month, a week, or a...More

Went to hike the trails. The lady at the front didn't know if the trails were kept up. They were very muddy but it had just rained. The ultimate downside is that as you're driving in, you have no idea how to find the trailheads....More

We booked our stay in Cabin 11, checking in Friday and checking out Sunday. Our first night a pretty bad storm came through but that did not rain on our parade Saturday. We hosted a birthday party for two of our children and had many...More

This park has seen better days, but efforts to upgrade are visible. We had a campsite directly on the lagoon/bayou, where a Great Blue Heron was fishing. The frog chorus at night was respectful of quiet hours, hee hee... pretty much abated after 11pm. Office...More

Most definitely a quiet layed back place to camp with many walking trails, nature all around you, including deer that roam free and you will occasional see raccoons and squirrels begging for food. The rangers would rather you not feed them for their safety. You...More

A treasure in Louisiana but sadly maintained. Restrooms are not properly cleaned and stocked with basics and RV sites are deteriorating to a very sad degree. A wonderful location that offers an excellent taste of Louisiana swamps. Lots of walking opportunities that will get you...More

We will be traveling through Lake Charles in mid-January in our RV & thinking of spending two or so nights in the area. This will be our first visit to this area. Other than gambling, which we're not really into, is the Lake Charles area an interesting place to visit. Things to see/do? We like to get out & move after driving so like outdoor activities like biking, hiking, etc. but also enjoy a good craft beer or a fun happy hour. Any info or suggestions you might provide would be greatly appreciated.
