From the front desk to the tour guide, I was treated with the must courteous care. The museum is very "user-friendly". You're not bombarded with a lot of text and they have a varied collection of artifacts. I enjoyed the tour of the historic buildings on the property. My tour guide, Gwen, was a real gem! I highly recommend!

Nicely presented, but very limited. Probably more interesting for schoolchildren thans for tourists, whose time is limited.

This is a great museum for learning about the history and culture of the capital region of Louisiana. Numerous historic buildings dot the museum grounds showing what life was really like on the plantation, while the main central building has exhibits and art to further show the experience. Very pleasantly surprised, and I highly recommend it!

Just had a great tour by Dr. Angelique Bergeron, the curator of the museum. She happened to be assigned to show me around since other staff were busy with an elementary school class. She brought the exhibits to life and vividly explained the artifact and answered questions about the sugar industry in the region. She described life of local residents... More

This museum may be small but it has a big impact on the community. It offers tons of different events and is always well manicured and clean on the inside and staff are friendly.

I arrived after a tour had started but was able to "join in" and watch the movie after the tour. Well maintained property & very interesting information. The barn in the back with farm equipment was very interesting. Nice display of sugar processing plant--and samples of sugar at various stages!

My husband and I were in town both for medical issues and family visiting. My husband loves history so after seeing this on trip advisor, I surprised him with a visit. We were slightly disappointed that the word war II display was picked up into storage for the time being, but they more than made up for it. This is... More

This is another recreated village. Houses from local plantations and towns. Nice little museum with a miniature working "sugar cane plant" The outside buildings are clustered together and span different time periods but you know what period as soon as you walk in. New barn with video, blacksmith area and an edible plant area. Outside a mini sugar cane field.... More

I enjoyed learning about the process to make sugar. There are a variety of houses and buildings that have been brought to this site. They give a good idea of what life was like in Louisiana a long time ago.

The staff were obviously invested in this wonderful local museum. Since we were with a larger group, we were led from house to house outside and from showroom to showroom inside. We were given time to take in what we were seeing. I had never heard of Angela Gregory, but she was an extraordinary sculptor and an amazing woman. There... More
