Go beyond the myths of the Old South and walk in the footsteps of 4 generations of one Creole family, both free and enslaved, who lived together in complicated, intimate family relationships on this sugar plantation that remained a world apart from the United States through the first decades of the 20th century. Laura is open daily from 9:30AM - 5PM except for major holidays. The first tour of the day begins at 10AM with tours beginning approximately every 40 minutes thereafter until the last tour of the day at 4PM. Before or after your Laura tour, enjoy authentic, homestyle Cajun food at B&C Seafood Market and Cajun Restaurant right next door.

Learn about slavery

Very educational tour about the big house and the slaves that ran the plantation. Walking through the original slave cabins was an experience our family will never forget.

After an overnight stay in NOLA we wanted to do something different instead of the usual French Quarter option. Our daughter was looking at the brochures in the hotel lobby as I checked out of our hotel. She comes over and says "what about Laura Plantation?" So not really having another concrete option we said OK. Well let me just... More

We loved it! We had a small group of only about 8 or 9 people on our tour which was nice. The tour was very thorough, filled with information about the family who owned the site, plantation life, and the slaves who lived there. We had an extensive tour through the house including information about how it was constructed, and... More

The plantation itself is unique and interesting. I think has we been in a smaller group I would have enjoyed the tour more. I think there were 30 people in our group which was too many to fit in most of the rooms that the guide spoke in. The guide also often started speaking before everyone was in the room... More

We visited both Oak Alley and Laura. Laura Plantation tour was far superior. The guide, Camille was so knowledgeable and quite entertaining. We learned so much about the Creole history, the family that lived there and all the sorted details of their lives. This is not a Southern Antebellum plantation, so everything about it is very different than you expect.... More

Do not miss this plantation! We had a wonderful tour and guide at this place. He covered the families of the plantation, mostly focused on Laura and fear family. He also covered what life was like for the slaves that worked and lived here. They grew and harvested sugar cane. It was such a great tour....would highly recommend.

Is amazing how much stories are behind the Plantation's Families. Also, show a lot about how the slaves where treated.

Logan was our guide and he did an excellent job! He is very informative and knowledgeable about the plantation. He did a great job of giving us the history of both the family and the enslaved members of the plantation. The house is very unique to what you generally see in a plantation home. The grounds are beautiful.

The tour was very detailed about the owners of the plantation and its history. Laura left memoirs. This tour gave fascinating facts about the plantation. At the gift shop, you can purchase Laura's memoirs.

Laura Plantation is a Creole plantation which makes it different from the usual plantation shown in the movies. The plantation is not as grand as the ones you see in movies. The tour is 75 minutes and very informatiive.
