We did the self guided tour -- which was just fine. The mansion is beautifully restored and gives a good insight to antebellum living on a plantation from the rich land owner's perspective. We spent about an hour doing the tour, visiting the museum and watching the short movie.

Our group of four took Sunday brunch here on a trip out from New Orleans (reviewed under the mansion restaurant, but it was very good) and then we took the 12 noon tour. Very informative and a surprising number of the furniture pieces were from the house, family or period, given that you can actually stay in some of the... More

Loved this place. The cottages were very nice, clean and spacious. The grounds at the plantation invited a nice stroll around the place. We had a wonderful time here. Staff were all great.

What a fabulous complex. The Plantation House is enormous and framed by giant ancient oak trees. We were staying the night on the property and had free tickets because of this to have a guided tour of the house, normally $20 each. Tours are approx one hour long and Julie our guide dressed in historic Southern garb was fab! The... More

The plantation is definitely worth seeing but the overnight rooms leave much to be desired. Upon arriving in our room there was blood on sheets and a terrible odor. When nothing had been done re sheets hours later someone dropped new sheets off in the room - obviously expecting us to change them!

We had an excellent tour of the mansion with Brock. His voice was nice and loud and pronunciation was easy to understand. The tour was about an hour long and the rooms are beautifully done. Very historical

We booked guided tour tickets online the day before our visit, as tours are only offered once per hour and we wanted to be sure we were able to make one. We arrived about 30 minutes early and checked in, advising we had booked our tickets online. The staff member appeared very confused by this, and asked us how we... More

We wanted to visit a plantation and only had time for one. Nottoway is said to be the largest plantation home by the owners. It is a lovely place and the people are friendly place. You can either take a docent led tour or an audio tour that takes about 45 minutes. We took the audio tour. Since the home... More

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your self- guided Audio Tour of our plantation. Our Mansion is the only remaining building form the original plantation. The overseer's cottage on property was actually brought over from another plantation later on and the cottages and carriage house, along with our ballrooms, were all built specifically for our hotel and resort.... If you were to choose one antebellum plantation to visit, only one, it probably would be Nottoway. Located in White Castle, Louisiana, on the Mississippi River, it is the largest extant antebellum plantation house in the South with 53,000 square feet of floor space. The Greek Revival and Italianate-styled mansion was built by John Hampden Randolph in 1859 at an... More
