Lazy Jack takes her lines from the traditional Gloucester fishing schooners of the 1850's and has had a colorful and notorious history as a fishing and passenger charter schooner. During the early years Lazy Jack sailed between the East Coast, Man O War Key and Cuba running guns, rum, cigars and bananas. Today Lazy Jack offers 2 hr. day sails or private charters from Pier 1 in Boothbay Harbor celebrating 66 years of continuous sailing and 10 years as Boothbay Harbors only historic working schooner. Lazy Jack is owner operated by Captain Joe Tassi and his son Michael.

Owner was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Made entire sail seem effortless and returned to the dock under sail. Easy to make arrangement and his staff were very welcoming. Great value

The sunset cruise was relaxing as we sailed by Boothbay Harbor's beautiful scenery and waterfront homes. Unfortunately, there was no historical commentary of what we were seeing because the captain(the owner's brother) set the ground rules before we left the dock: 1) he wasn't going...More

In my fourteen years of sailing Boothbay Harbor, I have discovered it is impossible to please everyone and so at some point, you have to decide who you are and what you offer as a business. I wasn't on board that evening but I regularly...More

Lazy Jack is right! Don't know if I over estimated what I expected but I could have fallen asleep at the pace. Kept watching the other schooner company (EW) sail past the outer islands at a clip pace while we just barely broke the water....More

It is hard to know how to respond to someone incapable of recognizing that the Schooner EW was motoring and not sailing and does so all the time and that is why the EW was able to in this instance to make it out to...More

I thoroughly enjoyed my two hour sail on Lazy Jack. The Captain and his son are friendly, knowledgeable and make the experience so fun. Took the 3 p.m. Plenty of sun and breeze. I would definitely go again. Highly recommend.

The Schooner Lazy Jack is large enough for comfort and small enough for an intimate sale. We went with friends and joined two other couples for a late afternoon sail. What I liked most was the relaxed atmosphere that was aimed at giving the best...More

We chartered the boat for 2 hours and had so much fun! The Captain was easy going, knowledgeable about the area, professional and his son was obviously raised to behave the same way. They were both darlings and our trip was amazing!!
