Recent travels took us to Brooklin so we made a quick and enjoyable stop to see this historic library that was partially underwritten by E. B. White for many years. It is quite impressive though small. There are several used books both for sale and for free. The grounds are equally impressive.

Beautiful historic building on the main road through Brooklin that is truly magical. If you are within 30 minutes of Brooklin you should make the trek over to visit this library. Tons of history with E.B White and his wife helping to fund the library for years. As you walk in you are instantly awed by the beauty of this small building. Bookshelves line each side with open windows at the back looking back into the forest. Fantastic children's section (White would be proud) that our kids (12/9/7) spent 30 minutes reading in. In addition there are small touches throughout the library that make it truly special. When you walk in look to the right and you will see original drawings from Stuart Little. I went over to the children's section, grabbed a copy of the book, and then found the sketches in the book to show my kids. This plus other art lining the walls can keep you busy for 30 minutes. Not just for book lovers. For anyone who was a kid and loved to read!

We stood on the grounds of this historic building as we watched the Fourth of July parade! It was great fun, like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life!

My mom and I went to Maine last fall, in part because of E.B. White. It seemed only fitting to visit the library in his town to see the illustrations he donated and to meander. Great library with beautiful light.

E.B. White used to live up the road and helped fund this beautiful gem. This lovely library is the true town center, how fortunate for Brooklin!
