We had a fantastic time aboard the Lewis R. French on our 4-night cruise mid-September. Delicious meals, terrific company. Enjoyed exploring the small coastal islands, both from the water and ashore. Beautiful sunsets! Highlight was the lobster bake on the beach.

My husband and I took a four day cruise on this wonderful ship. It was our first experience on a Windjammer ship and we loved it. This is the oldest two-masted schooner in the United States and is designated as a National Historic Landmark. There...More

We traveled from WA State, and the trip was totally worth it! The ship is beautifully maintained and our cabin (think Pullman) was comfortably snug. The food was extraordinary, yet prepared on a wood stove in the foc's'l. Captain Garth was knowledgeable and skillful and...More

My wife and took a four-night cruise on the Lewis R. French this past August. We chose the French for its history (it's the oldest ship in the Windjammer fleet) and for its policy of strongly discouraging cell phone use. After all, the last thing...More

Spectacular! Shipmate, Devon, was extremely personable and provided a great deal of information about the area while sailing. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I have been sailing on the French for the past 25 years. Fellow passengers often ask me if I have ever tried any of the other windjammers to which I answer “Why bother?” It’s small, without an inboard engine (which makes it quieter), nonsmoking (which...More

My family booked a four night trip with Lewis R. French, and it's something I'll remember for the rest of my life. The sunsets were gorgeous, the food was amazing, and the entire experience provided a relief from the every-day hustle and bustle of the...More

We stayed on the ship for 4 nights. The trip has fantastic food and plenty of it made by the chef. The mates were very friendly and knowledgeable. It is a fairly primitive, manuel run ship which adds to the draw. It is very cool...More
