We offer specialty trail rides year round by reservation. Three are offered all year, seasonally we have ice cream rides in the summer in Casco, sunset rides in the fall in Casco and beach rides in the winter on Popham or OOB. We offer carriage tours in Freeport and Old Orchard seasonally as well. Riding with your own horse here at the farm is a great option too, on 5,000 acres of Jugtown Forest land.

An $50 advertised one hour ride turned out to be only 30 minutes and they didn't allow us to take any pictures before, during, or after. The guide was grumpy and let one of the riders get on her nerves, and we went around the same field twice. I'm not sure it counted as a "trail ride"

We tried to help you take pictures after the ride with your 15 month old but you seemed upset when we untied the pony and turned him so you could get his face in the picture and walked away. I only asked that you wait for assistance. Carrying a child around horses you don't know while holding a phone for... More

I live down the street and thought it would be fun to take him horseback riding. I read mix reviews about this farm but figured the price was suitable so why not? We showed up ten minutes early and since we didn't see a soul figured we will just sit at the picnic table and wait.(ended up seeing small sign... More

Sorry you were scared on your ride. We did have a horse with a tripping issue this summer, he was on lease, so we sent him back. Sorry if the guide was late, that is not the norm here but she may have taken a quick break after preparing the horses and didn't see you arrive. (we have cameras out... More

My family and I had a wonderful time riding. We passed beautiful creeks and were surrounded by pine trees which was great aroma therapy. The staff was knowledgeable and pleasing. The horses were well trained and followed each other through the trails so don't worry if you are a beginner. Enjoy!

Had a great time. You have to reserve in advance. They only take cash on day of ride, not credit card. You can prepay with credit card. The ride was nice and slow for us beginners. good views of woods and grass areas. Nice and easy and peaceful

Nice trail ride through the woods and fields of this farm's property. Christine was our guide. It seems they take the safety of their operation very seriously. We signed a waiver, were helmeted and instructed how to rein. The horses were docile and well-behaved. There were four of us in our group. My friend and I used to ride when... More

My wife has only ridden horses a couple times but I wanted to surprise her with this little excursion. Stephanie was our guide and kept everything about the horses very simple and relaxed. We weaved in and out of multiple fields, pastures and other wooded areas for just under an hour. We were on Rose and Abby- both horses were... More

I'm surprised at the negative reviews so wanted to post about our experience riding here. We have ridden here and at other guided trail riding places quite a few times and each time at Carousel Horse Farm was a wonderful experience. The horses are safe and trained very well and it is obvious the owners and staff love and care... More

We had a Groupon for a winter ride through the farm and snow. I was a little nervous that there would be no snow, but it snowed the day before our ride, which made it that much better. We arrived 15 minutes prior to our scheduled time, signed a waiver, grabbed a helmet and were assigned horses. There were 4... More

My daughters request a horseback trail ride on every vacation. This place was reasonable, very accomodating, and where some have cut 15-20 minutes from a 2 hour ride, this day we had 15-20 minutes extra! We had some experience so we got to trot and even canter a bit. The guide was young and quite quiet, but gave a nice... More

I appreciate the five star review. I do want to point out however, that none of our horses kick people. The do kick at flies and sometimes will reach up under their bellies to get one off, which can be intimidating when next to a horses that weighs close to a ton. I just want to make sure our future...
