My husband and I love to check out antique stores when we're on vacation, so when I read out a barn full of antiques and used books I knew we had to go. We were planning on a short pit stop on out way from Camden to Bar Harbor. Well our quick stop turned into a 3 hour stop. There... More

This place goes on...and on...and on. So many different things you didn't know you needed. Lots of books but not well organized. When I asked the man at the front desk if he recommended on local writer over another, he refused to give me his opinion and acted like I was bothering him. Really? You work in a place that... More

If you want a place to browse the second floor has a great selection of all kinds of newish and old books and I've picked up some great reads. The first floor is broken into little booths with a wide variety of antiques and odds and ends. You never know what a treasure you might find

Antique overload! OMG if you can't find it just ask at the front counter. The folks there seem to know where just about everything is at. We could have spent more than 2 hours there easily. Prices are good for the most part.

It's raining so we were looking for something to do - we saw the Big Chicken Barn and pulled in for a quick look. 45 minutes later we left with a few books. It's a great place too bad we did not have room for a couple of larger items.

Ever wonder where all of the hardcopy books and magazines have gone now that everything has moved online? They're all here, on the second floor of the Big Chicken Barn. I had a ball looking through all of the old books, Life magazines from the 1940s, even old books about my own state (which is not in New England). Definitely... More

If you're a flea market junkie as we are, this is a good place to stop. Lots of glassware, some furniture, every kind of everything you can think of, including a floor of books.

Book lovers will enjoy an entire second floor dedicated to books, periodicals and even old maps. There is something for everyone and it certainly passes the time on a rainy day. The 'coop' with the coffee is thoughtful and nice when it's a cold and dreary day out. I enjoyed this store far more than the Country Store on RT... More

Stopped while visiting Acadia. Yes, there are TONS of used books and old magazines. There is a variety of antiques and collectibles as well. Some stands were more reasonable than others. The building itself is a huge old chicken barn so it's not hard to miss when driving up the road.

I grew up on the coast of Maine, and always wanted to stop into the Chicken Barn. I made the mistake of finally going. Everything is very overpriced. The staff is unprofessional and extremely rude. I should have asked around before going there, because I've heard similar things from other people. Definitely won't be going back.
