I travelled from Freeport to Bar Harbor along Rte 1. I found the trip to be relaxing and varied scenery. At Bath, there is the Iron Works, at Rocland and other towns there were quaint villages and a variety of shoppes.

Excellent choices and lots of items to choose from. We usually just order through the catalogue or online - it was nice to see the selections up close.

Great shopping opportunities. A lot of small hometown stores. Plenty of places to eat. Very laid back

This is the home of LL Bean. The rest of the town is an oper air outlet mall. Not sure there re any unique bargains here in Freeport.

We drove up Hwy 1 from Boston to Rockland, ME. It was slow - tons of small towns with lots of stoplights - but pleasant. We don't regret skipping the freeway.

This is the way to see Maine and Freeport, so worth getting off 95 for. I have been coming to Maine for decades and this road brings me right back to vacations as a kid!

Since I was young, we took trips to Maine and drove up U.S. 1 through Yarmouth and Freeport before heading to our destination (Exit 17 off I-295 heading north). While some things have changed over the years, many other things have remained the same. Day's...More
