If you are a fan of Maine artists and especially Marsden Hartley, this exhibition is for you. We spent about 45 minutes there and enjoyed the smaller, intimate presentation of his life and effects. Paintings, drawings, photographs and personal items donated to the Bates Museum...More

An interesting presentation of drawings, photographs, paintings, and memorabilia relating too Marsden Hartley, and a worthwhile adjunct to the major current show at Colby. The performance art exhibit on the main gallery upstairs was of no interest. The museum entrance is not adequately signed.

A small museum showing changing exhibitions. When we visited the Thesis Projects from arts students graduating in 2017 were on display. Some capable and thought-provoking work. Well worth a visit.

I have visited Bates College since I was a kid. I never attended Bates as a student, but I always loved playing tennis there as a child and seeing the football games. I live in California now, but love seeing Bates when I visit Lewiston.

We stumbled upon this college while visiting in Maine. The certain day we picked, the college had a reception for Shirin Neshat. I did get to see her paintings and was amazed at her work. Later in the summer, I took an art appreciation class...More

Nice, small museum. I enjoy the student shows at the end of the academic year. Bates grounds are nice and you can enjoy a walk around the pond.
