Since they turned the White Mountains of New Hampshire into a commercial venture, you need to go north to Baxter if you are looking for a beautiful hiking trail. Beautiful and worth the travel time. For serious hikers.

I did this walk in 1983 and it is still one of the best and most memorable adventures ever. It was mid fall and the colours were brilliant. We fortunately took some meagre supplies like Peanut butter Sandwiches and Trail mix, extra socks and T-shirts....More

Views are breathtaking. Definitely worth your time. If you are not a hiker, I would recommend researching which trail would be best for you & making sure you bring enough water. The trails are well marked. Enjoy!

Do not underesrimate this climb. It is 4000 vertical which after climbing, is a lot of vertical downhill! It is also not a walk but a scramble around a lot of big boulders. It was fun but more than we expected for an eastern peak.

I attempted hiking to the top of Katahdin two weeks ago. Made it one mile from the top and turned around because of a nasty thunder storm that rolled through. Thunder storms come up often and often unexpectedly. Be ready! Also, the hike was tougher...More

While this is the most beautiful place on earth and one of the best adventures ever, hiking to the top is not for amateur hikers. You need to go with experience under your belt. Once you get to the top, you won't want to leave!

Beautiful place with tons of waterfalls. Rocks, roots and not much flat ground. I would suggest bringing hiking poles to help keep some of the pressure off your knees. The gate does not open until 6am and there will be a long line of cars...More

They are all hard to be honest but your best bet will be to go up and down the Saddle trail. Some trails run into others but they will all get you there. I have done 6 of the trails and when my girls are old enough to do it... More

Many. The Hunt trail goes up past Katahdin Stream Falls, and if you head the opposite direction from K.S. campground you come to "Little Niagra" and "Big Niagra" both of which are impressive.
