this is a small lake but utterly beautiful, so quiet and tranquil. No nasty jetskis-never even seen a motor boat there. The surrounding houses are old and picturesque, well cared for, and the cottages are mostly hidden in the surrounding beautiful woods.

When traveling through the Mount Vernon area on Rt. 41, this lakeside stop is one of my rituals, where I can pull over, right by the waters of Lake Minnehonk, shut down down my engine and mind, for a brief respite. A wonderful place, to take time to close my eyes, rest my travel weary mind and body: to take time to go nowhere. I highly recommend this little stop by, where I can then go on, refreshed, and road ready for just about anything!

It's pleasant to drive by, paddle a canoe or kayak on or gaze out on from the Olde Post Office Cafe, as you have breakfast in Mount Vernon.

You could fish here for days and never catch a fish! The best thing about fishing here is breakfast at the Post Office Cafe!!
