This bridge is very unique - and old. We were close by and it was cool to see. The bridge sways as you walk or drive across it. Make sure you have the location in a map app. Nice area next to the river that you could have a picnic - and a satellite was there.

I’ve seen a lot of reviews about the lack of information on the bridge or how it’s not worth the trip. The Wire Bridge is a historic bridge in Maine and most likely, the only wire bridge of its kind IN THE WORLD. It was placed on the National Register in 1970 and is a focal point to the residents of NP as well as surrounding communities. It’s a fishing hole, a swim hole, a picnic area and a great place to soak up the sun or take unique pictures. It’s not a tourist trap or LL Bean...its a historic bridge, a one of a kind and a joy to those in the community

When we stopped, we happen to see a bald eagle carrying off a fish... great site, great little stop!

This stop was definitely worth the short drive off Hwy 27. Road signs marked the route from 27. You can park at the east side of the bridge after crossing over from the direction of 27 and walk down to the water. You can pull off on the west side as well, but there is no access to the river. There were several cars parked and people playing in the water, stacking rocks. (see photos)

Nice old bridge across a scenic river. Go see it if you are in the area, it’s not special enough to make a huge detour. Could do with a bit more information.
