The water is cold but the beach is beautiful and big and easy to walk. And you will be rewarded at the end with a private house and lighthouse to photograph or just admire. As the tide goes in and out the beach changes by exposing sandbars that are fun to explore.

You won't hear about Popham Beach from many people, even once you get to Maine. I found it because of an old navigation system I had on a car. (Of course the the newer version of that car has a worse navigation system.) When I arrived in this area of Maine (midcoast) I pressed a button which showed me local... More

It's a lot of money to spend if you only want to spend a couple of hours, but for a full day at the beach, this is a great spot. Jump in the river and float down to the sea! Beautiful views with islands and lighthouses. A zoo in the summer months.

We build a driftwood fort, and visited the tidal pools. The beach is marvelous for running and going for walks.

Even on a cool fall day, this is a wonderful place to visit. The beach area is wide and scenic...lots of elbow room, and a good walking beach. Has the feel of a special place.

Loved visiitng Popham Beach. It was a cool, slightly overcast day and the ocean was just like you picture it should be. I don't know if the tide was in or out, however, we walked quite away out to walk the edge for good distance.

Sand, sand, sand. The beach is more than 3 miles long. Shortly after the season the bath hose was open. We took our 2 year old grandson and he had a ball playing in the gentle waves and sandbars.

We were recommended this place and were not disappointed. After a lovely lunch we stopped off here and took a walk along the beach. The sun was shining and people were walking, riding horses and playing games. Because of the time of year (11th October) there weren't too many people which was nice as not too busy. Thoroughly recommend you... More

Stunning walk on beach with Maine islands in front of you. We walked down to Fort Popham which was a nice walk and saw two seals in the bay.

This beach is quite large. Even though we were there on a summer day in August, there was plenty of space to spread out. A beach trip is so much more enjoyable when you're not right on top of other people. The tide change was quite interesting and significant. At low tide, we were able to walk out to an... More
