Gorgeous beach in a less traveled spot in state. Good parking and facilities and lovely expanses to walk and enjoy an ocean swim or an afternoon of reading.

Wide expanses of sand get even wider at low tide. There's an island that you can walk to when the tide is low, just be careful to return to the main beach before the tide comes back in or you'll get trapped behind very violent...More

This is an amazing beach. I have visited at low tide in the fog and to walk out on the sand toward the waves and bump into surfers emerging out of nowhere was a surreal experience. The water is cold so enjoy it with a...More

Amazing, there were seals playing and eating when we were there. The beach was clean and plenty of space.

Popham Beach was a highlight of our trip. It's a lovely beach to walk all the way along, to sunbathe or to swim (although it's a bit nippy in the water). With only one restaurant and one shop/café there, it has avoided the tourism/commercialism of...More

Amazing views, immaculate beach, clear water, excellent facilities. Just wish we could've stayed longer! Highly recommend. Bring beach chairs or towels, sit down, and let the ocean work it's magic.

Highly recommended by my dear friends. Worth it even with flys! Luckily, they liked my husband more. Nice beach, beautiful views, water temp doable. Will bring bug spray next time. Worth it to return. Enjoyed visiting Fort Popham, too.

This is a very nice beach- lots of sand, which means it is a long walk from the parking lot to the water. We went late afternoon on Labor Day- when most people would have left for the day to return home to work, and...More

Although the gates are closed about 6 months of the year, there is adequate road-side parking and guests can walk in across the parking lot to the beach at no charge. I've walked this beach many times during the winter... More

9 a.m. is opening and it closes at sunset, however the parking lot often fills but visitors can park along the road and walk in.
