The lighthouse offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. You have to walk a bit uphill, and it's a little tight up there. There is a small gift shop, but there aren't any snacks here. The beach is extremely rocky from what we saw. There are some nice views along the walk up to the lighthouse too.

Short hike in past scenic coastline to light. Long stairs to top but small museum and home at base. Wonderful views from point.

As lighthouses go, this is a really nice one. You have to walk along a pathway from the parking lot and there are a few stairs to climb up to the lighthouse. The website said it would be open till 4 pm. But on that day, they closed the entry in to the lighthouse at 1 pm. It is a... More

Easy walk in about 2/10 mile from parking lot at Owls' Head State Park (free admission) to lighthouse up stairs with small risers to view lighthouse from exterior (tower open limited times, possibly Wed. afternoons) and visit museum (also free, but donations accepted) on premises for history of lighthouse, area, and fishing industry. Gift shop and informative volunteer staff.

It's a beautiful spot. On our last trip, there was a family living in what is now the museum. We enjoyed the tour and were also able to climb up in the lighthouse. The climb up the last ladder was no problem. My difficulty was getting back on the ladder to climb down to the steps. Had to have an... More

Plenty of parking is available with access to the beach or lighthouse trails. The walk to the lighthouse is quite long and is then followed by a fairly steep and long stairway to get up to the lighthouse itself. While not handicap-accessible, the stairway is easy to navigate and the views are awesome. You will need to stand on the... More

We were fortunate to go when they were open on a Monday. The line was about 30 minutes long to walk inside the lighthouse itself. The volunteers were very informative. Fascinating views and history of the bay area.

We visited Park in the evening so there was plenty of parking. Beautiful views of the A's and the boats out there. I love me strong. We really enjoyed our time

In my opinion, this ranks just slightly behind Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, and that is nothing to be ashamed of at all. Some of the views along the walk to the lighthouse from the parking lot are really special. It's a bit of a walk up to the lighthouse, but they are not built for tourists, they are built for a... A short drive and an easy stroll through some lovely coastal woods brings you to the charming Owls Head light. This is not an epic lighthouse excursion. It's an easy jaunt if you're passing through Rockland. It's probably not historic or notable or even distinctive, but it is lovely. The short climb up into the light rewards with great views...
