Every location we visited from the cool thrift shops like Encore and Little Ghost, specialty stores like the Queen of Hats and Blanche & Mimi (middle street near Congress) and great restaurants like Nosh we couldn't go wrong. If you only take a walk down one of Portland's interesting streets, this is the one.

There were a lot of cool restaurants and shops to visit both day and night. I also enjoyed the food options.

Congress street is fun because it has many stores to explore, places to eat, bars, and even a Starbucks. However, everything closes early (some stores close around 5, some around 7) So in other words, there's really not much of a "night life" in Portland.

This was easy to find parking here and you have to feed the meters. Lots of nice stores and places to eat.

This is one of the main streets to find interesting shops. Think 5th Avenue in New York. Go to any restaurant and you will be surprised by the fare. Just walk it and discover things for yourself.

We must have walked along here a dozen times and saw different things each time. So many shops and restaurants and pretty great people watching, too. We were here for First Friday Art Walk so there were tables set up all along Congress with young people selling their hand crafted goods. VERY interesting!

Our lodging was on Frederick Street near Congress; this made getting around Portland quickly available. Goes through west side and runs through downtown and parallel to Commercial Street. Important for drivers to become acquainted with this street.

Marcy's Diner at 47 Oak St. off of Congress Street is a small and cozy diner and within walking distance from The Press Hotel, which is where we stayed. We sat at the counter and had their decadent pumpkin French toast and Maine blueberry pancakes served with eggs and hash browns and couldn't pass up trying their infamous Blueberry Muffin... More
