Portland Paddle offers sea kayak and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) rentals, tours and lessons. We provide paddling adventures for all skill levels, including complete beginners. We send out two-hour sunset kayak tours every evening and half-day kayak tours three mornings each week. Experienced paddlers can rent kayaks or SUPs and explore the Maine Island Trail. We're located at the East End Beach a short drive or walk from downtown Portland. Our site on the waterfront of Casco Bay is perfectly situated for paddling. Dozens of interesting islands are nearby and the waters near the beach are relatively calm and protected.

The kayaks they provided were comparable to other rental kayaks. The route that we took was very scenic and fun.

Took wife and granddaughter, neither with kayak experience, out for a couple of hours. All went very well. In that time, you can't get far, but the scenery of Casco Bay is immediate, with access to ledges, rocky shoreline, the back cove, and the harbor. The staff are helpful, easygoing, and flexible. The equipment is varied and in good shape.... More

We had a lot of fun on our first ever kayaking adventure. The guide was thorough and helpful. I wish I'd realized in advance that I could use the provided waterproof bags to protect my DSLR. As it was, I didn't get any photos at all -- a real bummer. We enjoyed the kayaking itself, as well as the tour... More

My husband and I did the Fort Gorges tour on a very chilly and windy day! Despite some seemingly rough waters, our guide, Joe was super knowledgeable and friendly. He made everyone comfortable. The trip to the fort and back was so much fun! The scenery is beautiful and well worth the choppy/wet/cold day. Was truly a highlight of our... More

My latest experience with Portland Paddle was a kayak sea rescue one-on-one class with Zach. Calm, clear and fun -- I did quite well with both self-rescue (getting back in the kayak) and with helping the other person get back in. Seniors rock! I also did a group kayak trip in Casco Bay and rented a kayak on the Presumpscot... More

Lovely, delightful, fun First-time SUP Yoga experience” 5 of 5 stars ***** I had a marvelous private SUP yoga lesson off East End Beach. It was absolutely gorgeous being out on the water that way, and my instructor Ashley was very competent, friendly and thoughtful. I was able to do far more than I would have expected, yet it was... I booked two SUP boards for my husband and I to use on our stop here on our honeymoon cruise, and I did so almost a month in advance. I received at least three confirmation/reminder e-mails over the course of the month, and the night before were scheduled to dock in Portland, I received a call saying that they were... More

I'm so sorry you weren't able to go paddling during your visit to Maine! I don't think our staff clearly communicated the reason for the cancellation. The weather forecast was calling for strong winds and rain during the day of your visit and all our other customers had canceled their reservations for this reason. We did not think you would... Took a stand-up Paddleboard lesson. It was awesome! Great instructions/tips by Ashley and seemed very interested in helping others. Will visit there again when I go to Portland.

Portland Paddle was friendly, prompt, and helpful during the entire trip. Getting out on the water was a breeze after a short safety session - guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the area we kayaked to.
