We took the short 20 minute ferry ride to Peak's Island. It was beautiful and the ride was nice. However, the island was closed for the summer and nothing was open but one ice cream store, so it was kind of boring... We had to...More

We chose the mail run cruise, it takes 2.5 to 3 hours. The captain did point out the different islands as we cruised along. They do not sell food or drinks but that was okay because we brought our own snacks, beer and wine.

You don't need to be a sailor, artist, or historian to appreciate a trip on Casco Bay, but if you're one of any of these you will especially appreciate this remarkable body of water and all the unique islands it contains. You don't even have...More

Some of the best scenery I have ever seen. Easy to find location and great value for money. You can also take your own food and drink on to the boat which we would recommend.

If you're visiting Portland from May-Oct, a trip on the ferry to Long Island and back is a fun thing to do, and in about 2 hours you get a good look at Casco Bay, the islands, water life and birds (plus some drop-dead gorgeous...More

Always fun we we traverl to Ogunquit to visit out sons. We only had cocktails. There is so much to do and see here in portland. Shopping is always fun you can spend all day doing that.

take the mail run, pack a lunch, bring your binoculars AND a warm jacket. It's chilly on the water. Takes you from island to island in Casco Bay.

Took Bailey's Island cruise with family, and everyone enjoyed it. Brilliant day on the ocean, comfortable seating, including out of the sun. Two stayed on board with picnic lunch, while others left. Some ate right there at restaurant, while others hiked over bridge for take-out....More

Take a car ferry or just a cruise. The Casco Bay Islands are beautiful and historic. We suggest the mail boat cruise. Cruise while the boat delivers mail and freight to the islands' residents.

There are several hospitals in the area, all of them within 3 miles of the Casco Bay Lines. From I-295 take exit 7 - Franklyn St all the way to the end. There is a parking garage right next to the ferry.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are well behaved and leashed. Expect a reasonable surcharge.
