I love lighthouses so as I was driving up the coast we stopped here. The little ladies that run the place were friendly and helpful. It was full of so much information and pieces of lighthouses. It was cool to see some of the bulbs...More

Quite frankly, we stopped in almost as much for the A/C as for the lighthouse information....but once we were inside, we found it quite interesting & informative. Glad we stopped.

By far the best museum in Maine and perhaps in all of New England. The collection is beyond amazing. Also, a wonderful gift shop. Any visit to Maine. must include the Maine Lighthouse Museum, a place for the entire family to enjoy.

if you are interesting in lighthouses and lifesaving, this is a must see. Many examples of removed lights and all sorts of lighthouse memorabilia, and a couple of really interesting films. and a GREAT gift shop!

We learned so much about lighthouses and particularly their history in the U.S. and their role in our development. Great info on how they worked, stories about the people who ran them and the government's role in their upkeep. More info than you can absorb...More

Nothing much interactive here, but fascinating nonetheless. Lots of lighthouse trivia, a gorgeous collection of Fresnel lights (and an explanation of why they were so revolutionary), and a nice little video at the end that is worth watching all the way through. Very nice staff...More

Very interesting museum... Lots of things we never knew. Great for young and old alike! Quaint small city setting right on the water.... Lots to see and do in the area too

Great museum, lots of exhibits, very helpful volunteers who provide a ton of background info. 20 acre campus, food on site, super clean restrooms Plan on spending several hours. Pass is good for any 2 two days in a 7 consecutive day period.

small museum. made me want to read up on stories from lighthouse keepers from the past. Lots of models and examples of different lenses that are used in the lighthouses. Fans of lighthouses should add this to their itinerary if in the neighborhood.

Learned a lot about the history of lighthouses, not only in Maine. Nice place, lots of interesting exhibits. May not be especially good for kids, it's very adult oriented. The gift shop is nice, too. The building also houses the Rockland Visitor Center.
