This almost 100-year-old theatre opened a few years after World War I ended! Today, it is refurbished, and shows films, as well as featuring singers and comedy acts—all at very reasonable prices.  The renovated bathrooms are welcome and the concessions are very good. And the...More

We love going to the Strand in Rockland. This renovated theater is a classic that has been updated to today's standards. It is extremely clean. They show a great selection of current independent movies and air Bolshoi Ballet and the Met Opera. While there, be...More

Beautifully restored venue that gives you the "old movie" experience with new movies, technology and comfort. It also doubles a live stage featuring some great performers.

Great downtown location, the Strand feels like a classic. It offers movies as well as performances. Butter machine wasn't working, but the popcorn was good enough as is.

Yes, this renovated/restored theater which enjoys status as a registered historic landmark still does show movies but has also morphed, like much of Rockland, into a venue for unsuspecting events and varied tastes. For example, I spent nearly 3 hours attending a "world premier" movie,...More

Saw 'The Salesman' here last night and loved watching a movie in this restored 20s-era theater. Its classic neon marque fitting right in on Rockland's quaint, Edward Hopperish Main Street, The Strand sits opposite The Farnsworth art museum, as well as Rock City Cafe and...More
