There's not really that much beach real estate, accessible to the public, in the area. Apparently, when there is some, it's exploited. There's an extremely small, paid parking lot several blocks away; when open, it fills up fast. Parking AT the beach, is 'musical cars'....More

This beach was one block from our Inn. It was clean and very nice views. People were surfing and a group had a nice bon fire

This time of year (10/12/2018) was perfect for a walk with our cockapoo. The view of the harbor and around the bend to the open sea was enjoyable. A sweet, but hard to locate beach. Once you find it, you will be glad you went....More

If you can stand the torture of swimming in Ice Water, Higgins is not a bad beach. Decent sand and places to lay out, but the Atlantic Ocean rarely gets much in to the 60 degree levels. This is NOT Florida!

We visited Higgins beach with an old friend who lives in Portland. I felt like I was in beach heaven. We were able to walk pretty deep in the water and the views were just beautiful. This was a highlight of our trip to Maine.

The beach changes dramatically from high to low tide. At high tide it is perfect for your children as it stays shallow for yards. At low tide, the beach is huge with tide pools to explore.

Higgins Beach is a classic old Maine beach neighborhood. Surfing, dogs in the morning. What a fun summer spot!

We had a wonderful stay in a rented cottage with friends. The beach is fantastic, not overcrowded despite the weather, and the setting and scenery are great. Come early for municipal parking, which fills up fast on a beautiful day. No roadside parking, which naturally...More

The beach is broad and wide, allowing for great walks at sunrise. Surfers skim the water and there are ample places to people watch, enjoy the water, watch birds, and relax.
