Went to see this lighthouse today with my family and we loved it! There's the remnants of an old fort wall that you can explore and a nice grassy area where people can relax. The main highlight of course is the lighthouse! In order to get to it, you have to make your way down a long path that's basically... More

Really enjoyed hiking out to this light house. It is not a handicap accessible walk - large chunks of granit with gaps between - was fun for me walking out there but not for people with any mobility or balance issues. Nice little hike and a fun stop. On the flip side, very little parking nearby. Wasn't a big deal... More

We had the great pleasure of touring the inside of this lighthouse on one of our trips to Southern Maine. What a pleasure! Despite my fear of heights, it turkey was worth the walk down the breakwater and up the ladder to enjoy the stunning views of the area!

The way out to the light house is along flat huge blocks of granite - not for the faint of heart or someone with poor balance but a fun walk - not too far and you'll end up at the end of the jetty for some phenomenal views - great place for up close pictures of passing lobster boats.

This lighthouse offers a gorgeous view of Casco Bay! Go on a weekend when they are open for tours and you won't be sorry. Fascinating. The volunteer guides were great.

Walking out to Spring Point Light is a nice walk on a good day. It juts out about 2 tenths of a mile form the mainland and is an easy walk. Children should walk close with parents as the gaps in the rocks could swallow them. The views are stunning, especially when a cruise ship is leaving harbor.

Looking for a break while traveling North Found a suggestion that there 6 lighthouses in the Portland area that can be seen in 2 hours. 6 lighthouses are true. 2 hours are a stretch if you are interested. This was one of the 6. Can either be viewed from shore or from the causeway. Excellent view. You can see other... More

Small light house that can be seen from Shore but is not open to the public. The Bug Light House is just blocks North and you can walk right up to it.

Spring Point Ledge Light is another gorgeous lighthouse in Portland, ME. There is a parking lot nearby and a rock jetty to walk out to the lighthouse for a closer look. The day I was there, it was extremely cold and windy, so I took pictures from the shore. I would love to go back when it is a little... More

We took a tour of the area light houses with so many in the Portland and South Portland area. We thought this light house was interesting.
