The collection is pretty large and interesting for a small college. Covers many periods of art. The building showcases the art very well. There is a separate wing with the works of Alex Katz, an artist I don't care for, but still interesting to see...More

A very well chosen collection of American artists, both old and new (an entire wing devoted to Alex Katz). Sargent, Stuart, Homer, Bellows, Church, Remington, etc. And it's free. What's not to like.

Impressive collection. Open to the public. I highly recommend visiting for at least a couple of hours to take some of the permanent collection and other exhibits. The Colby campus is beautiful. No fee.

What a gem of a museum! I visited the Colby College Museum of Art to see the excellent "Marsden Hartley's Maine" exhibition, but stayed to see the rest of the exhibits. I was amazed at the extent of the collections, which specialize in 19th, 20th...More

This is a small museum that packs a big punch. The current (Summer 2017) show features the work of Marsden Hartley, a Maine born painter whose mid-twentieth century work sits at the borderline between naturalism and impressionism. The permanent parts of the museum are a...More

You get two for one- (1) a beautiful campus and (2) a world class art museum with no admission charge. After visiting Colby, Bowdoin and Bates, I vote Colby as the most beautiful of the three. Just don't expect much from Waterville as was a...More

I thoroughly enjoyed Katz's paintings and always have. I even went to see them in Boston at the MFA. I also enjoyed the Colby Art Museum.
