It's a nice, clean beach, but I recommend going in season. We went during a very cold spring. No one was on the beach, all shops were closed, and most restaurants were too.

I have been coming to York, ME for 25 years, and I will never tire of the gorgeous views and aahhhh-mazing seafood...if you know where to look. I will admit that some of the hotels seem a little run down, but thats the trade off of a salty/breezy/humid environment. If you go in the off season, re: fall/winter/spring, the prices... More

Long sands is lovely Amy time of year. A favorite of surfers and mom's that need a getaway. I like the early spring where the other folks are sparse and I can walk in the hard packed sand in sneakers. You can see the light house on the end of the Marginal Way from the beach.

we have stayed in York 3 times in the winter months and there have been people surfing on long sands beach each time. They seemed to be having fun and one time they were using a drone to film thier ride.

This is a large flat beach, you will see people flying kites, throwing Frisbees, walking, surfing, sunning and who knows, you might even see me with my metal detector.

While the lighthouse is not open to the public, the views are out of this world. The pounding surf, lighthouse, and the view is worth the trip.

One of a few lighthouses we saw that weekend, this is a no-brainer stop. Beautiful view on a nice day. Nice gift shop also.

Great to walk on at low tide. Sand is hard. It's an easy walk. Most of it is not accessible at high tide.

This is one of the largest stretches of sandy beaches in the area. Lots of room to bring your beach toys or walk along the rocks and seach for star fish and crabs. Parking is along the beach and goes quickly. Get there early. Enjoy the surfers and bring your boogie board.
