We went to Swallow Falls State Park and walked a very snowy path to the lower falls. The trees were covered in snow and the path was quiet due to the snow. The falls did not disappoint! There were icicles clinging to the rocks and...More
Other than Swallow Falls, there’s also Muddy Creek Falls to check out as well as a few hidden areas locals don’t care to share. Lol. There are swimming areas here but you need to be very careful, even on what seems to be a calmer...More
Definitely include this state park on a visit while in the area in any season! We recently hiked the loop in January and while it was chilly and muddy, it was a lot of fun. The scenery is gorgeous and bonus, we even saw two...More
Swallow Falls is a great park with restrooms, paved parking, and a loop trail. Take an immediate left to get to the amazing waterfall. There are wooden platforms to capture photographs at different heights. The trails are well marked and maintained.

If you take the path the left from the parking lot, it will very shortly take you to the top of Muddy Creek Falls (that's the big one). However, to actually get a good look at the falls, you'll have to go down a rather long staircase which takes you to the base of the falls and then, of course, climb the stairs back up. It's well worth it, but not easy if you're comprised physically.
