Since the last time I was there they've added a boat dock and changed the south end landscaping. It's been a great change and went from a nice park to one of the best.

I have visited Fort Smallwood Park hundreds of times. We love to take walks around the park. The park is a great habitat for birds. Birders come in the spring and watch for hawk migration. There is a beautiful playground that is rarely crowded. The rangers and gate attendants are always friendly and knowledgeable. Last year the County opened up... More

This wonderful county park has been renovated over the past few years and now is a real gem! Walking/biking trails along the river and bay, even public boat ramps. Playground, basketball courts, and bathrooms. Park is kept very clean. Just a great place to spend an afternoon!

Fort Smallwood is a small but nice family park. It has a great playground for kids with great water views. There are picnic tables here and there (not tons of them) and a few gazebos. But you can fish off the banks and a pier! Also there is now a really nice boat ramp which is at the mouth of... More

The park is not as large as Downs Park but they have swimming and a large pier for fishing and crabing. They also have an area where you can put your boat into the water.

Finally, a public boat ramp in North aa county. $6 park fee per car, + $4 to use the ramp. Clean secure parking with rest rooms and new fishing pier.

This park is where the Patapsco River joins the Bay, and you can view freighters making their way into Baltimore Harbor, as well as recreational boats. Typically it is breezy there, and there are lovely waves. There is a small beach area at which now they allow swimming, though no lifeguard. There are many picnic tables, and a large playground.... Ft Smallwood has been around for years.. The walking paths are good and used by numerous folks daily..the park recentley added a boat launch and fishing pier.. The county did an outstanding job with both of these. The best time is during the week as it gets very busy on the weekends..

Beautiful Park with a view of Baltimore! Brand new boat launch and swimming beach. Fort Smallwood Park’s recreational amenities include a 380-foot fishing pier, children’s playground, historic gun battery and barracks, walking trails, beaches, pond and volleyball courts. Great place for birding! Wonderful history of the park- Fort Smallwood was a sea coast defense built in the late 1880's to... More
