Adkins held their annual "awareness" (i.e. fund) raiser on property. The evening under the stars reminded us how much the arboretum is a gem and "must see" for anyone with an environmental interest who travels to the Eastern Shore. Lovely trails, educational materials and unblemished...More

We walked to the arboretum from Tuckahoe State Park. I recommend driving there and saving your energy to walk around their facility. There's lots to look at. They have a demonstration area, goats, vegetable garden, and nicely paved trails just to name a few. Their...More

Our first visit and it won't be our last! This arboretum isn't far off of Routes 50 and 301 and is a hidden gem. The layout of the paths (meadows and woods) have been made with great skill and care. The staff will help you...More

We kinda stumbled upon this place but we're glad we did. It's part of Tuckahoe State Park but it's run as a separate nonprofit. They charge $5 for admission but it's well worth it. A nice map is provided that shows lots of well marked...More

Wonderful trails and beautiful forested landscapes. While off the beaten path to find, Adkins Arboretum is special in part because of that location. Parking and access is easy. The visitor center is outstanding and the staff is both knowledgable and friendly. The trails are well...More

My husband and I walk our dogs here almost every week. We find it peaceful and enjoyable. Four miles of trails through beautiful woods and meadows. Always something new to see whether it's new plants in bloom or woodland creatures. You never know what you'll...More

Adkins is an absolute gem tucked away in Ridgely. What a fantastic place to have a cup of coffee and walk the beautiful grounds. This is also a great place for cyclists to explore, and they have a wonderful native plants nursery on the grounds...More

I love going out to Adkins. Stroll the trails, visit the goats, learn about gardening from a perspective of native plants. BUT, my favorite thing is the breadth of programs! Gardening for sure, but the arts, making festive centerpieces, nature walk and soup lunches, dog...More

This place was an amazing find! for 5 bucks you get a beautiful hike while listening to a fascinating tape of the experiences of runaway slaves who passed through the area on their way to freedom. Excellent presentation!
