On a quick trip to St. Michaels, my wife and I read about this Museum and decided to visit it despite the fact that it was closing early (still on winter hours). Though we had less than an hour to see it, we found the visit really worthwhile. We'd assumed this was an indoor museum, but the value of this... More

Little gem, well worth the 90-minute drive from Metro DC in its own right, shows diverse aspects of early life in the Chesapeake. Easy to spend several hours in its exhibits.

Went there in the off season for a fun day with my parents. Had a great time. It was slow enough that the volunteers had time to really start talking to the visitors rather than be on crowd control all the time. Only one of the buildings wasn't open.

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum was quite a welcome surprise to me. As a lighthouse junkie, I love anything nautical and that is precisely what you get with this museum. It is well-staffed, with kind and knowledgeable team members and the site itself is spacious and quite lovely. Situated on the water, you have acres of ground to explore .... More

Great outdoors museum. The guided tour is a must. The tour guide gave an extremely knowledgeable explanation of water men living, lighthouse tour, oystering , log canoe boats, history of sailing in the Chesapeake Bay.

We just think that the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is a national treasure. The Navy Point campus, all of the exhibits, the programs - all are educational and historically significant - in a fun way. I can't think of something I'd rather do than spend Saturday at the Museum!

We traveled here on a bus trip in May 2015. Had a great guided tour of the buildings. They explained all about oyster harvesting and restocking.

We came to St. Michael's as a side trip from Baltimore and Annapolis. Finding the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum was a bonus. I have lived in the Midwest and find the Chesapeake Bay and mid-Atlantic lifestyle interesting. The museum grounds are entered by driving under a drawbridge once used on Tilghman Island. The museum is entered through the gift shop.... More

This museum has a lot of buildings to go through with a variety of exhibits. We spent 3 hours there and they closed before we had seen all of the buildings. The lighthouse is on the grounds. I will review the lighthouse separately but the lighthouse is awesome! There is even an area to try to pull up eels and... More
