Really enjoy lighthouses and think screw piles like this are my favorite type. Very nice and interesting history as well as you can go inside and see how the light keepers lived. Highly recommend if you like lighthouses - there is a fee as you can only enter thru the museum which has a fee.

I've seen pictures of this lighthouse for years and always wanted to visit it. Very interesting to see how the lightkeeper lived and how they anchored these lighthouses in the water. Lots of original artifacts and explanations. Nice to go in the "off" season and mid-week when there weren't too many people.

As a total lighthouse junkie, I was pleased to visit the Hooper Straight. It is located within the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, so your admission to the museum includes the lighthouse. As a screw-pile lighthouse, it's easy to climb for those that might struggle with stairs. The inside contains a ton of information about the history of the lighthouse and... More

We traveled here on a bus trip in May of 2015. The tour guide explained all the history of the lighthouse. We had a bright sunny day and beautiful view of the water.

The renovated light house provides a great experience for all ages. My grandkids really enjoyed it. The view and history provide a point of view and education that few can. For me it is one of the highlights of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime museum which preserves the unique heritage of the Bay. I loved the story of the various keepers... More

What an incredible first hand view of what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper. It was great to see how the rooms were laid out for living space, how the lighthouse worked and the stories of the people who did the job.

Average lighthouse. It’s really part of the Chesapeake Bay Martime Museum. So if you’ve paid for the museum, you might as well visit the lighthouse. The lighthouse was moved from its original lacation in the bay, but it gives a good historical perspective of how lighthouse keepers lived isolated from the mainland - like the barrels to catch rainwater for... I'm not sure why this is listed separately. I don't think you can get to it without paying the museum admission and getting access to the rest of the museum. Its a nice little bay lighthouse with three levels. A spiral staircase inside leads to the other levels. Getting out to the deck on the top level is through a... More
