The tidal river at the top of Buttermilk Bay has one of the cleanest, healthiest tidal ecosystems in SE MA. Visit at low tide for great beach combing. This beautiful salt water farm also has interesting inland trails. Well worth a visit and remember ... leave nothing but footsteps... take nothing but pictures and Enjoy!

This is a nature reserve, not a commercial enterprise. It is, therefore, "unimproved". It's good they didn't try, because it's quite nearly a perfect way to lose yourself in a sunny day, with the only company being the 4-legged critters, including frequent close encounters with some truly lovely deer. "do be a deer".

We enjoyed a quiet walk with our dog over the footbridge, past the flyfishermen and down to buttermilk bay. Trails were well marked and we only stumbled a few times on some hidden roots. It was the perfect day for a shaded walk thru the woods and to enjoy the quiet sounds of nature.
