I lived in the general area for many years, but long after his time. General Thayer was very involved in the community. There is an excellent private school named after him. His birthplace was typical of homes in the area in that time frame.

A nice trip back in time, interesting for the whole family. Not overwhelming, but a good taste of one of he earliest colonies.

The Tour of the Thayer House is a great Tour if you are like history. There is parking and a Museum in the Building where you meet to take the tour. I recommend making a visit if you are interested in local history.

Would be good for families with children with short attention spans. Quality exhibits, small but quality.
