This gristmill has incredible history -- it has been in operation in Brewster for going on three centureies. On certain Saturdays in the summer, it is operated by volunteers, so you can see how the water is channeled to the water wheel, how it turns...More

Try to visit this place at least once a year. Today found the Mill open and bought some cornmeal ground here. Love the outdoor experience and historical information. So fun to see and hear children's reactions to the herring jumping upstream.

We happened upon this gem a few years ago and were able to see the herring run. The gulls plucked many of them out of the stream but we saw a few make it safely up to the pond. It was a little too cold...More

The Grist Mill is nice in any season, but probably the most interesting time to see the grounds is when the herring run during springtime. A family member insisted I take them to get a look, I dragged my feet but agreed. Wow, so glad...More

Stopped on our way back from Brewster to Dennis Port. The mill was closed, however walked the trails around the mill and Herring Park. Great little place off the beaten path.

Mainly no comment on the museum because it was closed, but that didn't matter as we really stopped just for the building itself and the gorgeous fall foliage around it. Worht going out of your way to visit for that alone.
