This is worth the drive out to see. If you drive past the house there is a lovely high overlook to the water. When we went it was not open but we walked around the outside of the house. It's a hilly area with plenty...More

The Captain Penniman House was built in the 1868 by one of the major whaling Captains from Eastham. It is a beautiful and unique home, it is called Second Empire style. The entrance to the home used to be whale jawbones. It cannot be toured...More

Combine it with a trail at the Fort Hill park as a visit to the iconic house only might take 20 min of your time. Please note that the famous whale bones entrance has been removed due to renovation.

What a beautiful, colorful building. No wonder the National Park Service is working to preserve the house and provide it’s interpretive expertise to the public. It is more impressive than portrayed by most photographs.

This is a cute and unusual looking house, set off the main road but still easy to get to, and there's a parking lot just up the street. The house was closed while we were there, so we only got to see the outside. The...More

We took the guided tour of this house. The architecture is very interesting. This may have been the first house on Cape Cod to feature hot and cold running water and inside toilets. There is a nice knoll nearby with great views of the ocean....More

This was a nice morning adventure for our family. We enjoyed the walk and the views. The sharpening stone used by native Indians was interesting.
