The Bend in the Road Beach is a great place to relax, read a book, or hunt for shells. Good swimming as waves are small. Lifeguard on duty for the swimmers.

A really cute beach and great for kids since the waves are very calm. However, bring their water shoes. The sand is more like shells and rocks, tough to walk around without footwear.

Located on a curved cove on Beach Road, this is a great beach for everyone, but especially those with smaller children. The water is normally calm (this August it was a bit more choppy that usual). Great beach to walk on. There is a life...More

The water warms up quickly in season. Shallow smooth bottom. Most days the breeze is mild and off the land.

Great family beach. Calm water, great views and close to parking and bike path. We had bikes but I would guess on a busy day, parking your car might be difficult. It's worth waiting for a space!

It's centrally located, if you don't want to hassle with crowds at South Beach, and especially if you have lots of stuff to schlep, your car should always be close by. Waters are calm, shallow and often very warm. Swam there in October sometimes. No...More

This is the beach to go to if you have young children or grandchildren. The water is calm and beautiful. Parking can be challenging, so go early in the day or later in the afternoon.

Every summer, this is our go-to beach during our MV vacation. Parking is free and easy, and the walk onto the beach is short. The water is clear and calm, with little to no waves. The beach is full of shells for collecting. There's plenty...More

My husband and I will be traveling with our 4 month old in a couple weeks. I had planned on renting bikes, but just learned that our son is too young to go in one of those pull behind buggies. So, now I'm wondering how we'll get from Oak Bluffs to this beach. I found a bus route to Edgartown, but I'm not sure if the bus has a stop at the beach or how far it would be to walk from town. Any other thoughts/tips on transport would be great! Thanks!

#13 bus stops there, tell the driver when you get on. Better for you is Inkwell Beach within walking distance of the Oak Bluffs Ferry terminal. Unlike Inkwell, Bend in the road is too isolated (IMO) for your family - no... More
