South Beach is one of the nicest beaches in MV. I have been to Menemsha, State, and the Lighthouse Beach. This year, there were some sightings of Portuguese Man Of War Jellyfish, so I wasn't too keen on swimming although I did not see any....More

If you want waves this is the place to be. But don’t be fooled by the beautiful blue water, these waves are brutal, the current is crazy strong and the shells and rocks are unforgiving when you get slammed into the ocean floor by the...More

It was October so it was cold, but this is a nice beach. You are looking South over the ocean and the waves are bigger here. Sand is good, but sometimes rough on your feet with big pieces of rock and shell. Definitely not as...More

We love this beach and keep coming back again and again. It's easy to drive to and park or bike to, people are lovely when you pass them, which can be rarely.

Quiet this time of year, miles and miles of beach and dunes only! We had the entire beach, almost, to ourselves. Easy access, clean.

The drive was just beautiful that day, we just loved the area. First trip to Martha's Vineyard, we took our car over on the Ferry, which was the BEST decision we made.

Although it was not beach weather during our recent visit, South Beach is still very nice. If you like waves and surf conditions, this is your beach. Be careful of riptide and rough surf on pre-storm days. There are toilet and change stations available

There’re portable rest rooms for men and women near beach, which was relatively ok to use. Beach was slightly rocky but good waves to have fun. No food stand or anything near by but clean environment. Busses stop by. Quiet and peaceful.

Its even better off season in my opinion. We were on the Vineyard for the week up to Labor Day. By Labor Day afternoon there were only a few people on the beach. Prior to that... mobbed. Even so... an amzing beach with grave waves...More

Beaches are free and public, there are shuttle bus that goes around the beaches, from the ferry terminals. They can take you around the various routes in the island, and you can take you bike.
