This is the place. Come this summer before they move the main museum to Vineyard Haven and their new location. You can see lots of history here and learn a lot in just a one hour visit. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly.

Online it said the museum was open so we were excited to go. We got there to find they are closed for the season. We called and learned they will not reopen until Memorial Day.

This museum had an excellent installation of photography of many people who have gone to Martha's Vineyard to live from all over the world. Their stories of how they were received and were able to become part of the community were heartwarming. Everywhere in America...More

Museum is air conditioned, so good place to get out of the sun. This was one of the first activities we did and it fleshed out the history of MV. Plenty to see of whaling history, ships, indians and summer vacation. Much of the museum...More

This museum is right in the center of town and is a good place to start if you want to learn about some local history on Martha's Vineyard. Would not take you long to get through it and we found it worth it and interesting.

This is a small museum but don't let that discourage you from visiting. They do a wonderful job with the exhibits and out family of four spent a couple of hours learning all about the island on a rainy afternoon. The audio recordings of first...More

It's a very small but interesting museum. It's challenged by funding and artifacts to display but creates an interesting timeline of Martha's Vineyard history. Unfortunately we were there on a weekend. All their historical demonstrators and interpreters are off on the weekends....

Depends on what you like but Edgartown is the County Seat and the oldest town on the island with a ton of great old ship captains homes. Oak Bluff is much more of a day-tripper tourist spot, sort of like the old fin de... More
